Community Development and Communication

No one is better positioned to improve communication and development in Delaware County and the City of Muncie. I have worked with leaders across both our county and our city over the past 35 years and I would like to implement a range of strategies that foster collaboration, transparency, and growth. These strategies might include:

1. Establishing Regular Forums: Organizing frequent  meetings and forums where city and county leaders, residents, business owners, and other stakeholders can voice their concerns, offer suggestions, and stay informed about ongoing projects and initiatives.
2. Enhancing Digital Communication Platforms: Utilizing websites, social media, and other digital tools to disseminate information effectively, gather feedback, and engage with the community in real-time.
3. Collaborating with Local Businesses and Educational Institutions: Working closely with local businesses, universities, and schools to identify and address economic and developmental needs, and to harness local expertise and resources.
4. Creating Advisory Committees: Forming committees consisting of residents, experts, and stakeholders to provide input on various development projects and policies.
5. Transparent Decision-Making: Ensuring that all decisions related to development are made transparently, with clear communication about the rationale, expected outcomes, and progress.
6. Developing a Comprehensive Economic Development Plan: Crafting a plan that addresses the specific needs and opportunities of Delaware County and Muncie, focusing on areas such as job creation, infrastructure improvement, and investment attraction.
7. Encouraging Public-Private Partnerships: Facilitating partnerships between the public sector and private enterprises to leverage resources and expertise for development projects.
8. Fostering Community Involvement: Encouraging active participation from the community in development projects through volunteer opportunities, public feedback sessions, and collaborative events.
9. Focus on Workforce Development: Working with local businesses and educational institutions to identify skill gaps and create training and education programs that prepare the workforce for current and future job markets.
10. Regular Reporting and Accountability: Providing regular updates on development projects and initiatives, including successes, challenges, and financial expenditures, to maintain transparency and accountability.
